I hosted a retreat for 8 women and as part of the experience, I really wanted a great card reader. My group is full of spiritual in tune women who are already intuitively guided so she had to be great AND she had to have the right energy. Susan fit the bill!! Her readings were so on point and each woman got so much confirmation on exactly what her Soul was needing. I am INSPIREDAll the five-star ratings brought me to her, and I found out for myself the reason why she’s receiving such great reviews! Come with an open mind and receive the thoughtfulness that Susan gives you through the cards. She set me at ease as soon as I met her, and I came with an open mind. I’ve had readings elsewhere in the past and I could see the very difference in Susan’s approach. She offered me a pad of paper and a pencil so I could take notes and asked if she could just start or if I wanted to tell her what’s going on. I love that she wanted to just start–the skeptics I’ve talked to would say that these skills are not real because you tell them what’s going on. FAR FROM THE TRUTH HERE. The cards are what matter and Susan helps you by interpreting them. After the first pass with Kabbalah (which was spot on with my current situation) we began to discuss my concerns. I could not ask for a better experience as it continued to flow. I would remind you that your energy and your thoughts bring about what the cards will be and Susan will graciously interpret them. Remain present. Susan is one amazing, talented and perhaps the nicest tarot reader. It ‘s 100 times better than what I thought it would be. She is nice, encouraging and helpful in figuring out what problems one can face. Don’t let that $70 scare you away.I learned many ways to be good to myself and others. I met Susan during a card reading at a women’s retreat I attended. I was very nervous before my reading and prayed that nothing other than information or energy from God/love would be present. Then I sat down with Susan and she was so calm and warm and welcoming. All my fears quickly lifted away. The information she gave me was right on target with what I’ve been feeling/thinking and others were new surprises which was nice! I suggest taking notes during and journaling after your experience. I had a brief but pleasant reading with Susan at the ISTE conference in San Antonio. She explained the process well and I really enjoyed the experience. Tarot reading was something I had never done so I’m glad that she explained it and helped me to feel confident and comfortable before starting my reading. Susan is a truly gifted card reader. I am not much of believer in anything but I occasionally seek out things that may change my mind or weird me out (hence the tarot card reading). I was visiting a friend who lives in San Antonio and we thought it might be fun to have a reading. Susan’s reading (for each of us) was accurate and wonderful (which is a weird word to use to describe a tarot card reading but the way Susan conveys the messages of the cards is very positive and calming). Other reviewers have commented on how she is such a warm person and its so true! She not only read my cards with freakish accuracy, she did so in such a positive way that I came away with a feeling of peace. I can’t explain any of it from a scientific perspective but I’m glad I went!

Leslie is the real deal.I’ve spoken with her twice now, and both experiences were helpful. The first time I was unsure what to expect, but she helped me feel comfortable and she led the way. Leslie is the real deal. She’s connected me to family members on the other side – some of whom I either never knew in life or had minimal contact with – giving descriptors that I didn’t understand at the time, only have those details confirmed by (living) family members after-the-fact. Although I do believe in spirits, I was a bit skeptical going into the session today. I expected maybe she would be trying to read us for cues or try to get us to share information as a way to pass off as being legit. Man, I was so wrong. She is truly gifted and the real deal! Let me start off by saying I have been a skeptic my entire life. I always thought it was a bunch of bologna that someone could connect to the other side. I had been having an urge to see someone recently due to the loss of a very close friend. I went into her office with no expectations, but I was blown away. First off she is welcoming, caring and understands that I was nervous and doubtful anything would come out of our reading. Immediately she felt presence of my father, I was shocked at the facts she gave me. There is no way for her to have known any of the information she gave me, secondly she was spot on with my grandmother and her passing. This is where it gets hairy folks, I was in complete utter shock when she channeled my dear friend whom recently passed. Cute and cozy spiritual/metaphysical shop on St Mary’s St. It’s easy to miss and they have parking in the rear which was great.Whether you’re new to witchy stuff, been practicing a while, or you just stopped by on a whim, you’ll feel at home. They have a respectable tarot, lenormand, and oracle card collection, precious stones, incense, candles, oils, herbs, and much much more. They also offer tarot readings in private rooms.I bought a little candle holder and a gold and silver candle. I also got a little rose quartz and a pyrite stone, despite using stones and gems aren’t in my usual practice. I’m eager to swing by again and pick up some soaps and oils. The person manning the shop was also very kind and helpful. Overall, I really enjoyed my time here.

Absolutely love this store, the selection for crystals and other spiritual practice items is wonderful. It exceeded my expectations and the staff was knowledgeable and so helpful. Parking is a little tight but that’s normal for the area, there’s parking around the corner. They have some really cool events and keep their website up to date.

This botanica is huge & they honor a lot of the various spiritual paths. It’s clean. Everything is in its own section. Prices are extremely fair for being a business. This is one of my 2 favorites to come to!

Papa Jim’s is the Sam’s of the spiritual world. Regardless of your belief system you can find what you need here. It is bigger than other botanicas, carry more inventory, and usually at a lower cost. There’s always enough staff to help and work the counter. I’ve never not been able to find what I need here. I think it should be part of San Antonio tourism. To know the authentic San Antonio is to understand its Catholic and Indigenous history and our spiritual practices that are deeply ingrained in our culture and heritage. This store serves the spiritual needs of our community.

Met with a friend here today, to give her some run-downs on things to use for personal empowerment and cleansing while going a bit nuts on a bunch of my own purchases.No matter the need it seems that Papa Jim’s has it, and if for some reason they don’t, they will have a more than acceptable work around-which is something I adore. That is what folk magic is about-getting the work DONE and getting RESULTS. I have only ever had one issue, out of a specific figure candle that I preferred, and for some reason never returned. *However* my desire for a specific figure candle only led me to other options. So I’m not hating over my own temporarily myopic viewpoint – at that given time. There is always a way, and if the most obvious route is not accessible, the back roads can travel just as nice. I have been coming to this store for … well at least 15 of the 23 years I have been practicing, and they’ve always kept me coming back!! My temple/altar room is always very well stocked and restocked due to Papa Jim’s being a staple and widely popular supplier. Thankful on behalf of both my personal practice, and those I serve through my practice, as well as the SanAntonio Occult/Folk Religion Community!!

I’ve been shopping with them since high school.I’m a power witch and Tarot Reader 33 years. I use others. But primarily I get both Papa Jim’s oils and House of Avalon some powerful oils. Only great turn outs in candles, spells and beautiful smells! Thank You Papa Jim

A staple of the South Side.Papa Jim’s has a great variety of candles,oils,smudging sticks,incense,and they have bath salts and fixed waters for the bath that also make a wonderful floor wash as well.Many versatile products and spiritual supplies.They also offer readings here as well and often have people waiting to meet with the medium.I love this place and hope it sticks around for generations from now as it has already.

Several people told me I had to come to Papa Jim’s during my trip to San Antonio, and I am so glad I did. The staff is extremely helpful and accommodating, and I found several things I need as well as items I never knew existed. Prices are very reasonable, and the original owner’s reputation for quality goods made me confident in my purchases. Very happy I stopped here; would definitely visit again in the future.

So I went for a reading, and she started off by talking about me and my boyfriend, and she had a lot to say about the 2 of us, ( and I stoped her and told her all of that is impossible, I have not had a boyfriend going on 4 years ) and that did NOT stop her she continued the reading as if I did. And unfortunately that was all the reading was about ( me and him ) as I said to her there is no him so nothing was correct, and sadly enough she took my cash anyway.

Have been a customer for many years & just lately have been having difficulty placing any orders. Mgr Yuly Ortiz was rude when I followed up after weeks of not getting my order. Told to me to follow the rules-which they NEVER advised of in the many years of them taking my $$$$. You’ll think that a long time customer they would be nicer.

This was my daughter and I first visit. We had resorted to purchasing supplies online because being in Texas (a “Red State” that’s conservative and devoutly Catholic) we figured African spirituality was a lost cause here in San Antonio. Fortunately with a little research we found Papa Jim’s Botanica. This place has a vast amount Yoruba, IFA and of course Voodum & Hoodoo spiritual (rootwork and magic) supplies. Their High John the Conqueror root is big and hearty. This shoppe has the goods! The staff is welcoming, lovely and knowledgeable. We will definitely be back!

*Good Vibes*I walked in and immediately felt a warm and welcoming energy! The people who attended the shop had an uplifting energy about themselves:) *Come In and Enjoy*They offer everything and anything you can need to get your magic going. I took my time to look at almost every single thing they offered and read all descriptions. Not once did I feel awkward or pressured to hurry up and leave. Plus, they made themselves available to every single client that came in. I did some online research on what they offered before I walked in; Glad I did because there is so much to choose from so I knew what I was looking for exactly.*Bang for your Buck*Pricing is so reasonable and I could feel how potent everything was as I touched it. I purchased a long strand of goldstone, Witches Perfume, copal cones, PJs protection water, charcoal disks, herb mix incense for luck, and Limpeza bath herbs all for $27. I left the shop feeling calm and happy with what I took home; great experience 🙂 -Other things to consider: Looks like they offer tarot reading for $30 and Spiritual Cleansing for $30 (recommend cash).-Overall thought- Worth my time, money, energy, and I will return for more product.-Side Note: Down the road, you will find other yerberias… I stopped into every single one I passed. I immediately was not inclined to stay and shop. I was bombarded with negative toxic energy/environment. Even the people/clients had awful gut wrenching energies about themselves. No Bueno! I had to rid myself of those nasty energies that followed me out.

What is the pricing for a tarot reading?
I’m not sure about the tarot reading alone, but he charged me $110 for a two hour session which included a tarot reading and energy work clearing.

Daniel is by far a GEM, and I thank the universe for bringing him to my life. I had my 3rd session with him yesterday…this was my first in person one. He never ceases to amaze me. He is always so on point and gives so much clarity. I feel calm and grounded during his sessions and I can’t get enough! Will continue to visit him whenever I need clarification and guidance. I’ve been trying to reschedule an appointment with Daniels for over a week, but he won’t send me any times even though he responds to my texts. It’s very frustrating! I also had to pay in advance, so it looks like I’m out $85. Bummer!

I scheduled an in-person visit but only received the location a few hours before, and it turned out to be at a coffee shop. I requested a refund as I preferred a private setting for the reading, but the request was denied. Subsequently, there have been no attempts to reschedule the appointment, and the individual is not responding to texts. Unfortunately, I am still awaiting a refund.

Daniel provides some of the most insightful readings in the most calming environment. I’ve done the love reading and the career reading, and I’ve done in person and over the phone. He’s intelligent, insightful, empathetic, and just…right. I return time and time again when I’m looking for clarity or just want to resolve anxiety over a situation. The readings aren’t always unicorns and rainbows, but they’re exactly what I need when I need them. I’m grateful my sister recommended him to me, and now I recommend him to everyone else!

Daniel is by far the best tarot reader I’ve ever seen. He’s very in tune to your energy and your spirit guides and provided one of the most accurate readings I’d ever seen. I had to take a moment to just look at the cards and breathe because it confirmed a lot of my suspicions but was an integral step toward trusting my intuition. He was able to read my current situation and future with little background information on my end, and his cards turned out to be shockingly accurate to a tee. I will definitely be returning for his energy cleanse. One of the most attune spiritual folks I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing a session with!

I had an amazing experience at Austin Tarot Reader! I went in feeling so lost and so stressed. I was partly doing it for fun. I’d been to other readers and never really felt like my reading fit my situation. This place was totally different! The space is relaxing and welcoming. You feel at ease the minute you sit down. My reading was incredible. He was so intuitive and compassionate. You could tell that he really knew people. He was kind and had such a warm energy. The cards in my reading were explained in great detail and he was able to apply them to my situation spot on. I was amazed with how clearly my questions were answered despite me not knowing exactly how to come out and ask them. But he helped and guided me through to exactly what it was that was concerning me. I’d recommend this place to anyone. Believe me you will not leave disappointed.
